The first significant Astrological event took place January 3rd with a full super moon in the sign of Cancer. A full super moon occurs when a full moon coincides with the moments that the moon is orbiting closest to the earth, giving it a larger appearance and also increasing it effects on both the people (psyche) and the planet (tides, tectonic activity etc). From an astrological chart perspective, the full moon occurs when the sun and moon are directly opposite each other. This full moon will be particularly potent as it is at home in the sign of Cancer, which the moonrules. Cancer energy is very emotional and expressive, sensitive and empathetic. A Jupiter conjunction will also factor into this energy offering up an expansive quality to Cancerian traits. You can expect this full moon to bring on big, expansive expressions of love and caring.

To balance this out, we are in Capricorn season until the last week of January. This energy isvery much focused on practicality and long term planning. There are 4 planets total in

Capricorn at this time giving even more energy to the ideas of building and growing in long term, realistic and sustainable ways. Think of Capricorn as your very serious and focused motivator.

A lot of the last year was very much focused on shedding skin (we are still in the later stages), releasing what doesn’t serve us and moving into our true selves. As we shift into the beginning of 2026, the energies begin to realign into rebirth (this is a theme you will see over and over right now). With mars and Venus in Capricorn, moving in and out of conjunction with the sun (happening right now), the energy is asking us to get real. Mars in relation to drive and action, balance with Venus in relation to worth, desire and love. We’re beginning to take all the lessons learned from the past year, really understanding who we are and what we want and taking that fresh new energy to begin blazing a new, more aligned trail for ourselves.

The new moon in Capricorn occurring January 18 further highlights the themes around rebirth, setting new goals and thinking long term about where we are headed and what we would like to achieve. New moon’s are very focused on starting fresh. We can embrace the energies of balance that we experienced earlier in the month and begin to look at incorporating this new level of self awareness, compassion and drive into our long term plans and goals. Capricorn is a serious and practical sign that loves to foster personal growth and maturity as well as setting and achieving realistic goals. This new moon isn’t about quick action and short term gains, it is more about long term growth and creating structures and boundaries that allow us to move forward in a concrete and meaningful way. To some it may feel very strict and boring, but setting ourselves up for the future is an amazing way to allow for freedom from chaos down theroad.

Sun enters Aquarius on January 19th. Aquarius energy is all about innovation, knowledge and freedom. Looking at things in an outside of the box manner. We may be more motivated to move on from things we deem as outdated, whether this is idea, technology or even relationships, focusing more on what motivates and energizes us. Thinking more with our head than our heart at times. What logically speaks to us and offers us to move in a way that honours our freedom. Think of this time as an opportunity to examine even more what doesn’t fit. We are still in the end stages of releasing what no longer serves us, and the Aquarius energy will only help facilitate this with a more analytical, rather than emotional twist.

We are still in a Jupiter retrograde in the sign of Cancer until March 10. A retrograde refers to the appearance of a planet moving backwards in the sky from our perspective on earth. In astrological terms it is often associated with a time of moving inward, sometimes can cause delays or misunderstandings but is often asking us to take time to reflect.

Jupiter is exalted in the sign of Cancer (meaning it is very comfortable). Jupiter is also the

planet of luck, growth and expansion so will often bring positivity, even in retrograde. This timeoffers us the opportunity to continue the dive deep into our understanding of ourselves. To acknowledge what beliefs shape us, to be radically honest about our feelings. Being that Jupiter is in the sign of Cancer, it is also asking us to be reflective about what makes us feel emotionally satisfied, safe and secure. The expansive qualities of a Jupiter retrograde are internal. We are honouring and exploring who we are and what we believe in order to come outthe other side more aligned with our true purpose and path in life. So continue to give yourself time and space to see what is coming up. Whatever that is, it is asking to be addressed.

Last but not least, we have Neptune entering Aries on Jan 26th roughly until 2039. Another

beautiful indicator of re-birth and fresh starts. Neptune is a slow moving planet (takes about 13-14 years to move through a sign and 165 years through all the signs) so these transits are also felt on a larger scale than just individually. Aries is the first sign of the zodiac (new beginnings) and represents action and bravery and Neptune is the planet of illusion, the other side, dreams and confusion. Think of this as a period of deep introspection, but followed up with bold action. Whatever you’ve been dreaming up, this is the time to begin to set it into motion, but be mindful of impulsivity and make sure you have your facts checked, pace yourself…think marathon, not sprint. Neptune also has a tendency to dissolve boundaries, on a larger scale, this transit can represent the dissolving and then redefinition of rights and independence as well as people’s willingness to fight for that. Moving from the dreamy, other worldly sign of pisces into the feisty go-getter sign of Aries. We are moving from the era of dreaming the dreams but maybe struggling to make them a reality into the era of dreaming the dreams and putting them into action.
